ThermRite Structural 18mm Gypsum Fibre Load Bearing Floor Panel is the ultimate high-performance solution for modern flooring systems. Designed for direct installation onto floor joists, raised pedestals, or acoustic cradle and batten systems, these tongue and groove (T&G) interlocking gypsum fibre boards offer unmatched stability and strength.

Engineered for superior compatibility with underfloor heating, ThermRite boards boast low thermal resistance (0.44 W/mK) for rapid and even heat transfer, making them perfect for use with UFH systems, heat pumps, and heat recovery setups.

Unlike traditional chipboard or timber-based panels, these high-density gypsum boards are dimensionally stable, water-resistant, and highly impact-resistant. They will not warp, expand, or contract—ensuring a longer-lasting, more efficient floor. Perfect for direct application of ceramic and porcelain tiles, without the need for a decoupling mat.

Key Features:

  • Board Size: 1200mm x 600mm x 18mm (0.72m² coverage)
  • Maximum Joist Spacing: 600mm
  • Low Thermal Resistance: 0.44 W/mK – ideal for underfloor heating
  • No Pipe Grooves – designed as a flat structural panel
  • T&G Interlocking Edges – glue joints for a secure, seamless fit
  • Supports Load Bearing Applications
  • Minimum Order: 10 Boards (7.2m²)

Benefits:

  • Install directly over joists, pedestals, or acoustic systems
  • Enhances efficiency of underfloor heating systems
  • Ideal for ceramic and porcelain tile installations

Important: All joints must be glued using ThermRite Joint Adhesive (sold separately).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I install these floor panels directly over floor joists?

Yes, ThermRite Structural panels are load-bearing and designed for direct installation over floor joists spaced up to 600mm apart. They are also compatible with raised pedestals and cradle systems.

  • Are these boards suitable for underfloor heating?

Absolutely. The panels have a low thermal resistance of 0.44 W/mK, allowing heat to pass through quickly and efficiently. They help UFH systems heat up faster and maintain consistent warmth.

  • Do I need a decoupling mat for tile installation?

No. Thanks to the high-density structure and dimensional stability of the boards, ceramic and porcelain tiles can be laid directly on the surface without the need for a decoupling mat.

  • What kind of floor finishes can be used on these panels?

These panels are ideal for brittle finishes like ceramic or porcelain tiles (Brinell hardness >40N/mm²). They provide a stable, movement-free substrate that prevents tile cracking.

  • Will the panels expand or contract over time?

No. Unlike chipboard or timber-based flooring, ThermRite Gypsum Fibre Boards have excellent moisture resistance and do not suffer from expansion, contraction, or warping.

  • Do I need to screw these boards down?

No screws are required. The tongue & groove edges are glued using ThermRite Joint Adhesive, creating a tight, stable connection between boards.

  • Are these panels suitable for wet areas?

While they are moisture-resistant, these are not waterproof panels. For wet areas, ensure appropriate waterproofing layers are used above the panel if required.

  • Do the panels have pipe grooves for UFH pipes?

No, these are flat structural boards without pre-cut grooves. If pipe grooves are required, you may need a different product or a secondary overlay solution.

  • What is the minimum order quantity?

The minimum order is 10 boards, which covers 7.2m².

  • Is adhesive included?

No. The joint adhesive is sold separately and is required for all panel connections.
